A child sells corn to people in the banks of the Mekong river. Cambodia has one of the youngest populations in Southeast Asia, around 5 million children, and thirty-one percent of the population is between 0 and 14 years old. Approximately 97 percent of the boys and girls are enrolled in primary school, but only 20% of the girls go to secondary school. And the under-5 mortality is 35 per 1000, according to UNICEF. The children in Cambodia, spite the improvements made in the last decade, live in a fragile situation, poverty, access to potable water, child labour, traffic, and sexual exploitation (mainly on the border with Thailand) are the main issues to be solved.
