Vour Sophara, a survivor of the Khmer Rouge Regime, was 10 years old when Pol Pot reached the power. After her father has been killed, her big sister, with a 6 months baby, was also killed at the hands of the regime. She had to work in the fields. “Usually we had two portions of porridge a day, if we didn’t manage to complete our tasks, we had one a day,” Vour tells. She works at the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum since 1990, where she tells her story to visitors once a week. Between April of 1975 and January of 1979, the Khmer Rouge regime was responsible for the death of about 2 million people in Cambodia, in one of the most lethal regimes of the 20th century. 2019 marked the 40th anniversary of the fall of the Khmer Rouge regime.
