Only 12 former inmates survived to S-21, four of them were children. The inmates were mainly political enemies of the regime, but due to a policy of guilty-by-association, at times, whole families were detained. All the prisoners arriving at S-21 were registered, with a number, date of entry, and name identified and photographed upon arrival. More than 15.000 prisoners were men, women, children, and foreigners.
