The police shoot a tear gas round over the protesters at Harcourt Road, in response to the demonstrators throwing bricks, umbrellas, and bottles. This led to what many called the excessive response from the police. On June 12, there were about half a million people on the streets in a protest that surrounded LegCo to prevent deputies from entering to discuss the extradition bill. Law enforcement officials respond with batons, pepper spray, and tear gas to disperse the protesters.
